I though I was good at art

When I was in high school my teachers were validating my art style, my artworks and my attitude towards art. I was participating in art competitions and I was even able to win some. Art world is a dream when you are in school. I was at one point the second best artist in a national art competition.
I was 18 and I found myself without any help, money and with rent to pay, food to buy and all that stuff. It was first time my skills paid off a bit. I realized that my training in school was very close to being a joke. I was not prepared to deliver products and I was not able to create art that pays the bills.
I started from scratch with digital art and for over 15 years now my art paid for everything. I am not rich but I’m a better artist and a better person - art was the safe net I never had before.
I was so bad at it for so long and I still am learning every day. I though I was good at it only because I didn’t need it as a way of life.
